BIO - CHIKASHI MIYAMA
Dr. Chikashi Miyama is a Japanese composer, software developer and performer. He received a Ph.D (composition) from University at Buffalo, New York and currently working as a software developer at Dear Reality GmbH Düsseldorf and ICST Zürich and teaching computer music at College of Music Cologne, Germany. His main focus is to unite physical-interface-based man-machine interaction with immersive audiovisual experiences.
PERFORMANCE
The goal of this performance is to realize an interactive relationship between human body movements and generative audiovisuals in an immersive space. In the performance, the performer wears Qgo, a pair of sensor gloves that detect the absolute direction and the angle of the hands. The host computer analyzes the data from the gloves in real-time and maps them to various parameters of the audiovisual synthesizers, developed exclusively for this performance. Eight instances of audiovisual synthesizers are used in the piece and they are visually represented as the emitters of a particle system. They move sometimes freely and sometimes follow the hand gestures, drawing various audiovisual trajectories in the immersive space.
Co-presented by Société des Arts Technologiques & ELEKTRA. A production by Société des Arts Technologiques.
