After two highly successful editions, the International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN) is back for a 3rd edition from June 3 to July 3, 2016 with a series of soft openings beginning April 16. This year’s theme is AUTOMATA: Art made by machines for machines, with the BIAN and the 17th edition of the ELEKTRA festival – from June 1 to 5 – looking at the impact of artificial intelligence in art and culture, with a program of robotic, immersive, virtual reality, augmented reality, sculpture and digital video works.

This year, the BIAN presents its major exhibition AUTOMATA from June 3 to July 3, 2016. The program features many Canadian and international artists, including a delegation of Swiss artists – the featured country for BIAN 2016 – offering an eclectic palette of works. BIAN audiences will have a chance to discover a new generation of artists who enthusiastically combine visual arts and digital technology to create the art of today and tomorrow.

In an effort to promote and share digital art, the BIAN is pleased to present a series of soft openings beginning April 16 across the Island of Montreal in partnership with a number of major centres of culture in the city.
